Edit PDF vs PDF ARENA
Edit PDF (quick tool)
One quick operation. Load, edit, download. Ideal for a single change.
PDF ARENA (workspace)
A full project: several tools in the same place, one single upload, history with undo and redo, automatic local draft, and one final export.
Compatibility and limits
Browsers
Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. Requires JavaScript and IndexedDB enabled.
Devices
Desktop recommended for precise editing. Viewing, organizing and quick annotations also work on tablet and mobile.
Password-protected PDFs
They are detected and rejected with a clear notice. Unlock them first with the Unlock PDF tool; opening them with a password inside ARENA is planned.
Scanned documents
You can annotate and organize them. To make their text selectable, run the OCR tool available right in the workspace.
File size
No hard limit. Above 60 MB you get a memory warning, since all processing happens in your browser's memory.
Project storage
Your draft is saved in this browser's IndexedDB, on this device only. Closing the project or discarding the draft deletes it.
Frequently asked questions
Do my files leave my device?›
Not for editing: everything in the workspace runs in your browser. Only the tools labeled as server processing (password, compress, OCR, convert) send the exported document temporarily, and they warn you before running.
Do I need an account?›
No. All workspace tools work without registration.
Are there watermarks?›
No. Exported PDFs carry no watermark of any kind.
What happens if I close the tab?›
A draft is saved automatically in your browser. When you come back you can resume the project or discard it.
Can I edit scanned documents?›
You can annotate and organize them, and run OCR from the workspace itself to make their text selectable; deep text editing is on the roadmap.
Can I modify existing text?›
Yes. With the Edit text tool, click a line of the document: the original is covered and you edit the replacement on top, which is what gets exported. It works best on light backgrounds and the font may differ slightly; true editing of the original text object is a future phase.
Does it work on mobile?›
Yes for viewing, organizing pages and quick annotations. For precise editing we recommend a desktop screen.
Which features need an internet connection?›
Editing, organizing, signing, redaction and PDF/A need none. Password protection, compression, OCR and conversion use secure server processing and say so in their panel before you run them.
How do I delete my saved projects?›
Use the close-project button in the workspace top bar, or the Discard link next to the resume option on this page. Both erase the local draft from your browser immediately.
