Where your money goes

TotalPDF Kit has no paid plan and nothing to unlock. It runs on one machine we pay for, so here is the bill a donation helps with.

The conversion and OCR machine

Sixteen of the 35 tools need a server: turning a PDF into Word, reading a scan with OCR, repairing a broken file. Those run on our own hardware and they use its processor and its bandwidth every time somebody drops a file in.

The questions you ask a document

Every question the AI answers is billed to us by the model provider, per query. That is the whole reason there is a daily limit instead of an open tap: three questions without an account, five with one.

The boring bills

Domain, mail and the traffic that reaches the site. Small amounts that arrive every month whether anyone donates or not.

What a donation does not buy

Nothing changes for you. No extra tools, no larger files, no shorter queue, no priority answers. Everyone who opens the site gets the same site, and that is deliberate: the day donors got a better version, the free one would start getting worse.

There is no paid plan

All 35 tools are free, and 19 of them never send your file anywhere: they do the work inside your browser. There is nothing to subscribe to and no trial that runs out. If you would rather keep your money, use the tools anyway.

Where the money goes

Nothing here is free to run, and the numbers are small enough to say out loud.

The server is one machine, and it also holds the queue, the OCR worker and the conversion sidecars. Fixed cost. It does not move with traffic.

Every AI answer is billed to us per query by the model provider. That is the whole reason there is a daily allowance instead of an open tap, and it is the one cost that grows with use.

The domain, the certificate and the mail relay are the rest. No marketing spend. No office. Nobody on payroll.

A donation is not a purchase. It buys no feature, no higher limit and no badge, because there is no tier to move you into. It buys time: the difference between keeping the tools free and having to put a price on them.
